The conference „International Stakeholder Dialogue Growth in Transition – Sustainable Economic and Social Concepts” took place in Brussels on 16th and 17th January 2014. The objective of this event was to intensify international networking and thereby give impulses to start similar processes in other countries. The organisers were ESDN – European Sustainable Development Network and Growth in Transition Austria with the support by the Sustainable Europe Research Institute (SERI). The European Economic and Social Committee / Sustainable Development Observatory acted as host.

More than fifty people coming from eight nations attended the event. The website of Growth in Transition offers the actual list of attendees, the actual course of the event, all presentations, a report about the world café and the background paper for download.

Sustainable Development in the EU - A statistical assessment of progress in sustainable development
Eurostat has published the fifth edition of its Monitoring Report of the EU Sustainable Development Strategy, entitled "Sustainable development in the European Union". The new 2013 edition more clearly than ever shows the disruptions caused by the economic crisis on employment, poverty, resource and energy use, greenhouse gas emissions and other important aspects related to sustainable development. The WU Institute for Managing Sustainbility (which is running the ESDN Office), together with its partners Ecologic Institute (DE), INFRAS (CH) and Haymarket (UK), has supported Eurostat in the preparation of this publication.
